“Fame?, It’s Just that bit more touchable”

Who said good music is dead? GANGS, a four piece rock-n-roll group from Tallaght composed of Jordan Curtis, Dan Smith, James Connolly and Jonny Halpin, are setting the Dublin music scene alight, could they be the next big thing?

I caught up with Jonny in Dublin city to see how it all began,

“Well, I’ve known James for years, we’re like, childhood friends. We went to school with Jordan we always jammed together and all, then we met Dan when we were about fifteen at a session, We’re together as a band for the past three years now this year”/”Its hard work but it’ll be worth it, we WILL be the next big thing.”

With GANGS being leading figures within Dublin’s music scene I asked, is the scene dead or on the rise? ‘It’d be an insult to all of the underground bands in Dublin to call the scene dead, there is a scene, a small one, but it simply isn’t vibrant enough” With the bands new found glory around Dublin, I asked if they had any competitors in our city’s music scene. “We don’t have any competitors as such, we have the groups that might not like us, but we don’t pay attention, there is always going to be someone who doesn’t like you”

The band recently completed a tour supporting Cavan Rock-n-Roll band The Strypes, “Being on tour with them (Strypes) did make us step it up, y’know? It didn’t make us more hungry for fame just showed us that it’s more touchable than ever, besides that, we’re not that far behind them (The Strypes) in terms of writing style and genre; they’re just a year younger than us”

Upon, final reflection of the bands lifespan together, I asked what is the band’s greatest achievement to date, “Playing the Olympia, yeah, it’s just mad cause we went from Jamming in my shed in the middle of tallaght, to walking on stage in the Olympia to a packed crowd”

Gangs are Playing at the killarney music festival along with The Undertones and Jools Holland on the 27th of June 2015 tickets are on sale from ticketmaster.ie, And in my view  it’s a must see.

Making The most of a drab day in Dublin

Dublin, Cloudy and windy? Really?

Nothing too surprising there, to be fair.

Here’s little pick me up.

The Stone Roses Live in 1989, These tunes, wait, ANTHEMS, sound as fresh today as they did 25 years ago.
Gone are the days when the bands such as the Stone Roses, Happy Mondays and Inspiral Carpets graced the music industry with talent, Baggy t-shirts, Semi-Flared Jeans, Bucket Hats and just out and out Coolness.

Here it is anyways, Ian Brown, John Squire,Mani and Reni.
